Durable Corporation
Norwalk, OH
I worked as a purchasing agent, Inventory Control Manager, and as a systems integrator to install the manufacturing modules of Macola ERP software. Shop Floor Control, Material Resource Planning, and Bill of Materials are among the modules I helped to integrate.
I led a team to resolve a quality issue with producing one of the company's best-selling products that was causing delaminations and premature product failure. We discovered that the cycle times of the adhesive were too long, too hot, and being put under too much pressure. We reduced the heat, time, and pressure and significantly increased the production of the product, and resolved the delamination issues.
I was also tasked with developing a new flooring product after a series of failures involving several investigational adhesives. The adhesives were experiencing plasticizer migration with the vinyl substrate. I worked with adhesive manufacturers to identify a cheap and high-performing adhesive that would not fail. Additionally, I worked with foam substrate suppliers to find a much more robust performing cushion for industrial environments that was cheaper than the alternatives. This led to Diamond-Dek Sponge becoming a best seller and helped it to lead the anti-fatigue industrial floor matting market.
Fuelman
Sandusky, OH
I was hired as a General Manager to oversee five office personnel and five traveling salespeople. Fuelman-Sandusky was a franchise of a nationwide company. Our company was affiliated with District Petroleum which was then located in Sandusky, OH. The company sold fueling cards to companies that had fleet vehicles and would give them a discount on their fuel and produce reports for their customers. We utilized an IBM AS/400 to call out to credit card machines at fueling locations and download customer transactions and make electronic transfers to the fueling station. I was a temporary manager as District Petroleum was in the process of selling the franchise.
Pegasus Vans and Trailers
Sandusky, OH
I was hired by CEO Daniel Van Wagnen to work as a purchasing agent and inventory control specialist. Pegasus Vans and Trailers was owned by Erie Blacktop (a road construction company.) During my time I was able to negotiate a deal with Benjamin Steel to cut our mild steel tubing for free. This eliminated a major expense for the company and improved the tolerances of our cut tubing pieces allowing for greater speed in production. I was able to negotiate several deals to reduce the cost of lighting for our trailers while improving performance. I negotiated several large deals for polished stainless steel sheeting. I reformed their inventory and storage system to be much more accurate. Lastly, I utilized Autocad, Autodesk Inventor, and SolidWorks to help design custom accessories when engineering was at capacity. I left the company when Daniel Van Wagnen left the company.
